The Real…Real

It’s 12:15 AM. I was supposed to write this around 9:00 PM so I could be in bed promptly at 11:00 PM and get a full three hours of sleep before getting awakened by a terrified three-year-old because a loud, creepy, truck with bright headlights keeps waking her up as it lurks through our neighborhood every night (severely sleep deprived over here).

Life didn’t work that way though. Lilly got the stomach flu tonight. She just so happened to be laying on me when the first wave hit, and before I could react we were both drenched in vomit. My heart aches for her. What a great way to start her Easter Break.

See, life doesn’t go the way I planned it to daily. Schedules get rearranged, Lilly doesn’t behave the way I anticipate, something comes up at work. You name it. Being a mother, working, life…it all can be hard sometimes.

I saw a post on social media last week that basically said they were sick of “Pinterest and Stay-At-Home-Mom bloggers pretending to be perfect” it also went on to say that they would be more interested if bloggers actually posted their real life. I sat and thought about that post for a while and this is my opinion on the matter:

No one has an easy life that goes perfectly according to plans. There are always going to be roadblocks, schedule changes, disappointments, and stomach bugs. We don’t have control over those things. What we DO have control over is our attitudes through those trials of life. We also have the choice to be supportive of others around us. We have the power to encourage and the power to not let the hardships of life overcome us with negativity.

I try to be 100% real when I write my blog posts. But what I refuse to do is complain about my life here on my blog, or anywhere else. It’s a waste of my time, and of my readers’ time. Does that make me fake? No, it’s just a choice that I make daily. A choice to find the little joys each day, and find some kind of humor in situations like getting drenched in vomit (still trying to find humor in that one).

There’s my rant for the evening. I’ve included some pictures of a cute outfit that I wore this weekend, that didn’t get vomit on it.

Good night and Happy Wednesday!
