Life Lately: Volume 4
I know I usually post my Life Lately series on Mondays, but I am considering this the official Monday of the week considering yesterday was catching up after Easter weekend and the stomach flu for us.

Easter Weekend Recap
Despite Lilly getting the stomach flu last Wednesday and not feeling 100% all weekend, we had a great Easter. We dyed Easter eggs on Good Friday with my family. Lilly insisted on dying the majority of them purple only to be complete with a sticker on top.
Lilly is still iffy about the Easter Bunny. She’s not quite sure how he gets into our house much less how he managed to leave her basket in her room while she was sleeping. However, she was ALL about the egg hunt this year. She’s getting so skilled at finding the eggs that the EB better step up his egg hiding game next year.
Another amazing part of Easter for me this year was seeing my daughter start to understand the story of Jesus’ resurrection. Hearing her pray to Him before bed sometimes brings me to tears. I love her heart and willingness to know and love Christ.
This weekend was just refreshing. Spending time with loved ones, a slower pace, my heart is so full.
The Letizias
The Chronicles of the Pink Couch. My husband gets major kudos because he agreed to let me buy a PINK (velvet) tufted couch for the office. Maybe this is his way of returning the favor of letting him watch every single Brown’s and Cav’s game in the past six years.
Anyways the story starts with me purchasing said couch. Upon the couch’s arrival, the delivery man was nice enough to point out it was damaged and we refused the couch. Four couches… Four similar situations later. My pink couch is here. Safe and sound. I just want to jump on it out of pure excitement that it is actually here and not damaged…and did I mention it’s pink?
Lilly Quote of the Week
I am often overly sarcastic. Probably sometimes too frequently with my daughter. When she is bouncing off the walls I usually give her “the look” and say in a calm, sarcastic voice, “SIMMER…” While driving Lilly to school last week, a car pulled out in front of me causing me to slam on my breaks and blurt out a few…words…to that Lilly sarcastically said to me…“Mom…SIMMER…” Touche.
What I Am Reading
Two of the most inspiring women? Rachel Hollis and Rachel Macy Stafford (makes plans to name next daughter Rachel).
Rachel Hollis is the author of the book, Girl, Wash Your Face that I am (still) reading. She also runs The Chic Site website. The quote that stuck with me this week from her book was:
“Turns out the most beautiful things in life were never on my to-do list”
Like I have said before, I am Type A. I struggle with not being able to check everything off my list. But this small quote has made me so much more aware of my surroundings. Specifically my daughter. Tonight we played doctor, and “shop” and her belly laughs are most definitely what heaven sounds like. When I woke up today, I didn’t write, play doctor with Lilly on my to-do list, but that’s the thing about motherhood and about life that I live for…those small unplanned moments that just make every day so special.
Rachel Macy Stafford has been a favorite author of mine for years. I read her book Hands-Free Mama when Lilly was an infant, and have reread it multiple times since. It is such a grounding and eye-opening book. It helps me mother with such intention. She recently released a (free) Ebook called Words That Can’t Wait: Five Ways to Tell Your Kids That No Mistake They Make is Bigger Than Your Love and IT IS SO GOOD. Here is the link to it.
“No matter how humiliated you are and no matter how embarrassing it is to tell me what happened when I look at you, I see my beautiful and amazing child. No one can change the way I see you.”
