Life Lately: Volume 3
Happy Monday!
This blog post is sponsored by Rent The Runway! They sent me two beautiful designer dresses this weekend. I got to wear and enjoy them all weekend and easily shipped them back this morning! This is perfect as we quickly are approaching wedding season! The pictures from this post include the Sail to Sable dress that I have been dying to get my hands on! The sun is shining, so I will ignore the temperature for now. My house is quiet. I can hear the windchime outside, and I am enjoying the silence that will last another hour before I pick up my preschooler. So what’s new with us?

The Letizias
Alex removed carpet from one of the rooms in our house this weekend. BY HIMSELF (special thanks to my cousin, Brad, for giving him the tips and encouragement needed). I’ll be honest with you. I have a closet full of paintings and wall decorations that we have never hung up (we’ve been in our house for three years) because my husband is afraid to/can’t. He’s really good at his job, is an amazing husband and father, but on a level of 1-10 on the handyman scale, he’s like a 0.5 (I pray he never reads this…love you, Alex). We are finally starting to do some renovations to the house. Flooring is up first on the memo, and I can’t wait!
Lilly
Lilly succeeded at her first Easter Egg hunt of the year this past weekend. It was the first year where Alex and I had just as much fun as she did because she finally understood the concept of frantically running around to capture the eggs. We decided after the egg hunt to take Lilly out to dinner for Chinese. The mistake of the evening. She insisted on using chopsticks for the entire meal resulting in one of the most stressful dinners of my life.
In other news, our neighborhood has had a suspicious truck making its rounds and sitting outside our house at night. It’s loud and it’s bright lights wake Lilly up several times a week. I feel like I am reliving Lilly’s infant days. This mama is severely sleep deprived. Still love her just as much though.
Getting Organized
I am obsessed with my Simplified Planner by Emily Ley. It allows me to place my goals, events, daily tasks, monthly tasks, etc. in one organized (and cute) place. With my family’s schedule constantly changing, I recently bought The Home Base Binder Kit. It’s AMAZING. It allows your family to keep track of all important emergency info, weekly schedules, home/repair contact info, project planning, meals/grocery lists, finances AND a family bucket list in one place. I leave ours on our counter and when Alex and I need to add something to it it’s right there. It’s a great additional form of organized communication.
What I Am Reading
Still reading my girl, Rachel Hollis’ book Girl, Wash Your Face. It’s. SO. Good. I’ve even been highlighting some of my favorite quotes to refer back to often. My favorite from last week was:
“I am successful because I have never once believed my dreams were someone else’s to manage. That’s the incredible part about your dreams…nobody gets to tell you how big they can be.”
I wanted to start Style Her Strong blog for so long before I actually had the opportunity to do so last September. I did endless research, I was resourceful, created a business plan and before my husband was on board with taking pictures I bought myself a $9 tripod off of Amazon and would self-timer my pictures. As my blog gained steam, Alex has jumped on board and has been my biggest supporter. There are days where we have to shoot in the cold, or days I don’t “feel” like writing or following through with my business plan, but I have big dreams for this blog. Dreaming isn’t enough though. I have to put in the work, the time, and the plans to make those dreams happen. Nobody is to blame for my success or failure except for me.
High of the Week
Lilly had Daddy and Me Night at preschool this past week. Alex came home with a little bouquet of flowers for Lilly to surprise her for their “date night”. I wish I could fully explain Lilly’s reaction when he presented the bouquet to her. She felt like the most special person in the world. The way Alex cares for her heart makes me love him in a whole new light. Lilly is so lucky to have a daddy who will show her what kind of love she deserves daily.
Low of the Week
I am Type A. I want to do it all and check everything off my to-do list daily. Working essentially three jobs plus making my family the priority of my day is not easy. I don’t feel like I have enough time ever. Something I need to work on is giving myself grace and being okay with not always being able to check everything off the list.
Around the Web
Kelly in the City X Vineyard Vines. A few of my favorite bloggers took the trip of the lifetime with one of my favorite brands, Vineyard Vines. Check out their fun-filled travels throughout the Bahamas on Kelly In The City.
The Every Girl shared a post titled “10 Career Habits to Master in Your Twenties” last week. It’s a good read for anyone, at any life stage to read!
CLEAN Chicken Noodle Soup. It also boosts your immune system! I made this soup for dinner last week. It was SO GOOD and definitely kicked the cold I felt coming on. You must try it.
