Life Lately: Volume 2
The Letizias
Yesterday was dedicated to “spring cleaning”. I went through every room of the house and organized each drawer and cabinet. The fridge no longer smells likes something died in it, and it feels good to start the week with a clean house. My mind always seems to declutter itself in the process of a deep house clean, and I love that Monday is getting off on the right foot.
Lilly Funny of the Week
Last week Lilly celebrated St. Patrick’s Day at preschool. We had to build a leprechaun trap at home with her, and they were going to try to “catch” a few at school. Although all of the leprechauns escaped the traps the preschoolers made, we did get to hear a few Lilly funnies from the celebration at school:
- Lilly was the first to use the bathroom at school that day. She quickly came out of the stall and told her teachers, “I am NOT going pee in there! Someone left icky green pee in the toilet! DISGUSTING!”. The whole class ventured into the bathroom to find that the leprechauns had been there first!
- After proceeding to use the bathroom, Lilly noticed leprechaun footprints all over the bathroom, and came running out of the bathroom, pants still at her ankles, yelling, “THEY LEFT FOOTPRINTS!”. Her teacher reminded her to pull up her pants, and with a thumbs-up, Lilly said, “You got it, dude!”.
High of the Week
For those of you who follow many bloggers, you know that they use a platform to link their outfits called LIKEtoKNOW.it. You can even shop the outfits directly through Instagram and the LIKEtoKNOW.it app. You simply like the picture you want to shop and it comes up on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app on your phone with all the products linked so you can shop with ease. It takes time and effort as a blogger to get approved as an influencer for the program, and this weekend I heard the news that I was finally approved! I will be sharing more details on how to use the app later this week! Stay tuned.
Low of the Week
I am struggling with a low this week. Every day has its ups and downs but I can’t pinpoint a definite low and for that, I feel blessed.
What I am Reading
I dove deeper into “Girl, Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis (founder of The Chic Site). One of my favorite excerpts of the first chapter is this, “Life is not supposed to overwhelm you at all times. Life isn’t meant to be merely survived-it’s meant to be lived.” I love this so much. I feel like daily there is something that seems hard or overwhelming to me. But something I decided to do as soon as I became a mother was not to dwell on how “hard” it is. That takes away from my relationship with my daughter and brings negativity into my house. There are parts of motherhood and life that are very hard, but if we decide that those things will overcome our thoughts and days, then we are stripping away the joy of being a mom and the appreciation of the life we’ve been given.
Podcast of the Week
Anytime I am struggling for a little creative inspiration, I listen to the “Magic Lessons” podcast with Elizabeth Gilbert. She’s the author of, Eat, Pray, Love and Big Magic, and always has the best insights on living a full and creative life.
