Merry Christmas Eve, Eve!

We have made it into the last official week of 2020. It feels dang good too. I just finished up wrapping presents late last night, and feel excited to celebrate Christmas…even if it does look a little different this year.

Last night I started to put some of the presents out under our tree, and couldn’t help but feel wave after wave of gratitude. In the midst of a worldwide pandemic, I have so much to be thankful for; a healthy family, steady incomes that allow us to gift beautiful and thoughtful but certainly not necessary gifts to one another, a little girl who has the best belly laughs (and snorts) in the world, a supportive husband who has allowed me to chase my wildest dreams, and a furry companion who is always by my side…oh…and another baby on the way. God has been so good to me this year, and last night I was overwhelmed with thankfulness for it all.

This year might not have been the year I planned in my head. We squeezed in a few trips before the pandemic hit and drove to the beach this summer, but other than that there was a lot of time spent at home. Events were cancelled. In fact, I can’t name one that went according to plan…but truly…probably for the best. Holidays were spent at home. School went virtual. Brand deals that I had were postponed and cancelled. So many things were put on pause. Family and friends I know came down with the virus. Some made it through, others did not.

There were so many moments this year that could have really rocked my world, and sometimes they did. But they also taught me so much. 2020 may not have been what I expected but I am grateful for the lessons learned from it. Especially that it taught me to find joy in the smallest things and be thankful for each and every present moment.

One way my family kept spirits high during this year was by following some of our usual traditions as well as creating some of our own new traditions.

A favorite tradition that Lilly and I started a few years ago, was decorating our bikes for Christmas, then going for a little Christmas ride in our local state park. I am not going to lie, last week I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and wasn’t sure if we had the time to decorate bikes, but Lilly persisted.

I am so glad that she did because we had a blast, except Lilly told me she expects “more lights on her bike” next year!

I hope these pictures make you smile and remind you of what it was like to be a child during Christmastime!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy, and happy time with those you love most.

xoxo,

Kalyn
