Our family holiday pictures that we take annually for our Christmas cards is one of my favorite holiday traditions. I love the challenge of picking out coordinating outfits, and adore flipping through the pictures of years past to see how much we have all grown and changed from year to year.

We have always taken our pictures with Mariah Fisher Photography. If you are local, do yourself a favor and BOOK HER. She’s so amazing and creates magic amongst the pure chaos of real family life!
Unfortunately this year, COVID canceled our scheduled family photos so we had to improvise, and weren’t able to work with Mariah…which honestly for me was very sad because like I said, our annual pictures are something I so greatly look forward to. But don’t worry, you will see some of Mariah’s magic in the months to come!
We weren’t about to let COVID cancel yet another family tradition or special moment we look forward to this year, so with the help of my AMAZING sister, we pulled off some family pictures 2020 style, the day after Thanksgiving.
For a person who isn’t behind a camera very often, my sister rocked it! She even was able to get our dog, Maggie to look for a few pictures. Thanks, SISSY, I owe you a bottle of wine!
I always love to go with a coordinating plaid that we can all wear in one way or another. This year I chose the rich navy and spruce green blackwatch plaid. Lilly and I both wore plaid dresses but she picked up the navy accents and I picked up the green. My green coat matched Alex’s green chino pants, and Alex completed his look with a navy blazer and a blackwatch plaid tie. We of course, couldn’t forget about Maggie, and always find a bow collar and leash to match our outfits every year.
Lilly went with sparkly block heels that she picked and looks so grown-up in.
I found the prettiest blackwatch plaid heels from one of my favorite brands. Another tradition of mine is that I always add a new fun holiday plaid shoe to my collection every year. It’s like my Christmas gift to myself!
These pictures are far from perfect, but I love that they show the beautiful town we love and live in, and what matters most. After a year of many challenges, it feels so good to celebrate making it through 2020, together, as a family. Growing together and focusing on the ones we love most has definitely been my favorite part of a year full of lessons and cancelled plans.
Last year, I started making our own Christmas cards on Canva and then just getting them printed on Shutterfly. I am a bit of a perfectionist and can never seem to find a holiday card that matches the aesthetic I am going for perfectly, so I love that I can custom design my own!
