Kids’ Bathroom Renovation
Happy Wednesday, Lovelies!
Lane is currently napping longer than I expected so I am taking advantage of this time to catch up on a few things. I promised a while ago to share our renovation updates with you all, so finally, I am sharing the first post in this series!
Our home renovations have been quite the adventure and have taken a bit longer than anticipated due to running into some issues like wiring that wasn’t up to code and sub-flooring that needed replacing.
So much goes on behind the scenes with a home build or renovation, and because Alex and I have been our own “project managers” it has been quite the learning process for us (currently trying to order a front door for our house and I can’t even tell you how hard it has been because there are SO many measurements involved and you sometimes don’t even know exact measurements without ripping doors/trim out…it’s crazy).
I also 10/10 do not recommend being super pregnant/having a baby while renovating your house. I don’t think Alex or I have come up for air in a while and when I have a moment to myself I am usually trying to work on something home-oriented. I will also say, despite my complaints, renovating is 100% worth it, and after seven years of living in our house and not feeling like it was “our home”, it’s nice to finally feel like we are making it our own.
I am so glad we waited to renovate because we have been able to do almost exactly what we want with each project and because we lived in the space for a long time, know what we want to change to make it work best with our lives.
Okay…enough of the ongoing small talk. Time to give you what you want…which is our Kids’ Bathroom Renovation Reveal!
Kids’ Bathroom Renovation:
Since we have one girl and one boy, I wanted their bathroom to be gender-neutral but FUN. A nautical theme quickly became apparent to me, and once I found this whale wallpaper from Serena and Lily, I was completely sold. We went with a navy vanity with gold hardware to match the brushed gold hardware we have throughout our house.
I found the cutest nautical-inspired porthole mirror to add to the theme and make the bathroom feel lighthearted with a pinch of preppy.
For tile, we found large hexagon tile for the floor and were able to find a small navy hexagon wall tile to use as the accent border and niche on the bathtub walls. I love the way it turned out.
I wanted this bathroom to be a place that the kids would love as they grow. It’s childlike but not in an overstated way, and I think it’s a place they will enjoy as they get older too!
