What to Pack in Your Diaper Bag
I remember being a first-time mom. It always took me forever to get out the door because I felt like I was living in chaos (let’s be honest…I am more so now than I was then…but I am used to it these days). I was always forgetting something, and one of the biggest stressors was the Diaper Bag.
I was an overpacker, but somehow still forgot to replenish the diapers or wipes…and, of course, when you forget to replenish…you are 100% guaranteed to have a blowout.
I wish there had been a blog post, or just some advice given of what I actually needed in my diaper bag, which is why I wanted to share this post today.
Before we get started, the most important step is finding a diaper bag that fits your lifestyle. I had a backpack that I loved with Lilly, but this time, opted for something that felt a little more “me”. I have been a huge fan of Barrington Gifts for a long time, and new that I wanted a personalized St. Anne Diaper Bag this time. I love that you can personalize it in so many ways from patterns to leather colors and even what kind of monogram (if any) you want on it. I also love how organized the inside feels with pockets that fit everything I need to bring with us for the day. They even include a stroller clip with the St. Anne Diaper Bag to make carrying “all the things” a little bit easier.
I actually shared a reel on Instagram of how to pack your St. Anne Diaper Bag, so be sure to follow me, @styleherstrong, to see it!
Now that we have the diaper bag covered, let’s talk about what you should pack in it.
What to Pack In Your Diaper Bag:
- Diapers: I know this is a no brainer, but so many times I came unprepared with only a few diapers. My rule of thumb is bring 2 diapers for every hour you are away.
- Wipes: Make sure to bring a full package of wipes
- Diaper Bags: Don’t be that person that stinks up a trashcan in a small room, grab some deodorized diaper bags like the Munchkin ones to help kill the smell.
- Soothers: Pacifiers, A small toy to keep baby entertained, Teething toy
- Portable Sound Machine: The Baby Shusher has been one of our favorite things for on-the-go, it calms our baby down almost instantly
- Foldable Changing Pad: Perfect for on-the-go changes. My husband has one in his car that he uses as his “diaper bag” because he can fit diapers and wipes in the pockets
- Hand Wipes/Pacifier Wipes: I love the Munchkin pacifier wipes, I use them on pacifiers, bottles, teething toys
- Bottles & Formula or a Carseat Cover/Nursing Cover: Depending on whether you are formula or breastfeeding
- Muslin Swaddle Blanket: That doubles as a burp cloth
- Change of Clothes: Depending on how long we are away I will bring one or two pairs
- Portable Fan: For hot summer days
- Baby Wrap or Carrier: I can’t tell you how often I use ours, it frees up my hands, especially if I am chasing after big sister
I hope this helps make getting out the door with a new baby a little bit easier!

Kalyn
