What Lilly’s Loving Lately
Hi, Friends!
I was brainstorming future blog ideas about a month ago and as I was jotting down my ideas, Lilly came bounding into my office with her favorite toy of the moment, a (kid-friendly) digital camera. She was videotaping herself and was giving her “blog followers” a tour of our house.
Along the way she would stop and mention her “favorite” parts of each room and it got me thinking…
I often share MY favorite things for Lilly, MY outlook on life, but wouldn’t it be fun to share what Lilly is loving and her thoughts? I am hoping that I will be able to share one of these posts monthly, because I think as parents, it’s important for us to really listen to our children. We can buy the fancy shoes, the crazy bath soap, or “the trendy toy” but in the end, our kids’ feedback is more valid than our own in some ways.
So tonight, I wanted to share a few things that Lilly is Loving Lately.
Shoes:
Now that it is spring, Lilly has been living in her Natives again. I love these shoes. They are easy for her to slip-on and off, have a great footbed, are easy to wash, and are waterproof. I bought her this rose gold pair for our Disney Cruise, and she has been begging to wear them all winter.
Just another call-out, these come in adult sizes too!
App:
Yes, my daughter has an iPad. Yes, she uses it almost daily. No, I don’t let her just do mindless things when she’s on it. The two apps she is loving most right now are:
- Endless Wordplay (we also use Endless ABC and Endless 123 that are from the same company). She learns phonics, sight recognition of letters, and word definitions all in one app. It’s amazing and she thinks it is SO much fun.
- Toca Pet Doctor is a fun app that isn’t so much about learning the alphabet but more about caring for others and problem-solving in a fun way. She has to help injured/sick pets feel better, then has to care for them after!
Tech:
Lilly is currently loving her KidRox headphones (but not as much as I am). They are noise canceling but can only go up to a certain decibel in volume to keep your kiddos’ ears safe. She can’t hear a thing when she is using them, and neither can I…which is…ahhhhmazingggg!
Toy:
I mentioned before that Lilly has a digital camera. It is the V-tech Camera. We bought her an additional memory card to go with it so she can take as many pictures as her heart desires. She uses it nonstop. It is so fun to go through her pictures and see her perspective on life through the images she captures. She also takes a lot of videos on it, and there are a few fun games she can play on it, making it a fun toy to travel with as well!
Stick With Me Cup:
Sippy cups are so convenient but inevitably not the best for your child’s teeth. If your kiddo is drinking juice, sippy cups can often lead to cavities. Regular cups are easy to spill making them not very convenient. Enter Stick With Me Cup. This cup has several parts to it, a suction cup bottom that you can put your own cup in, or the cup that comes with the suction cup bottom to prevent spills while kids are learning how to use a regular cup. Lilly loves hers, she requests it first thing in the morning and loves the independence the suction cup bottom gives her.
No More Sunscreen Lotion
Thanks to Project Sunscreen. Lilly always fights me on sunscreen. She hates the lotion, hates the spray, and used to only let me do a sunscreen stick. Now thanks to Project Sunscreen, I can easily roll Lilly’s sunscreen on. There is no mess, it’s easy to use AND it isn’t made with all of the harmful chemicals that are in most sunscreens. The best part? This sunscreen has antioxidants that make your skin soft and healthy! We love it!
Books:
Lilly has been on a huge Berenstein Bear book kick lately but recently turned the page to loving a few “bunny” favorites like The Velveteen Rabbit and The Runaway Bunny. I loved The Velveteen Rabbit as a kid and I think it teaches so much empathy and compassion. It would be a great book to add to any little ones’ Easter Basket.
So there ya have it, Lilly’s gold stamp of approval and her favorite picks of the month! Happy Wednesday!
xoxo,
Kalyn
