5 Reasons the Omni Homestead Should be on Your Family Travel Bucket List

In early 2021 while the world was still mid-pandemic, and I was at the waddling stage of my second pregnancy; my husband and I ventured to the mountains for a little babymoon getaway. We had stayed at and loved the Omni Mount Washington several times, so we thought adventuring to another Omni was in the cards for a long weekend away.

As soon as we arrived at the Omni Homestead, I couldn’t stop thinking about how excited I was to take our kids back one day. Fast forward to 2025, and we have now visited twice with our kids, and it truly is the perfect family getaway that should be added to every family’s travel bucket list.

Five Reasons the Omni Homestead Should be on Your Family Travel Bucket List:

1. The Activities: With seasonal activities that create a great kid-friendly environment year round, there is so much fun to be had for the whole family. From a s’mores express tractor ride that takes you up to the equestrian center for a campfire, s’mores, music, and a visit with a few horse friends; to outdoor and indoor pools that are open year-round, and a kids’ club full of activities (and some adult time away) there is something for every member of the family. We typically visit over a long weekend in the winter, so here are a few of our favorite things to do:
   • Skiing- with a small ski resort and lodge that is connected to the hotel, enjoy skiing, ski lessons, and live music at the lodge
   • Snow Tubing- also located at the ski resort, enjoy hours of family fun and warm up with hot cocoa after
   • Ice Skating- the Omni Homestead creates an outdoor skating rink every year with skate rentals available
   • Swimming- enjoy the beautiful historic indoor pool, test your bravery by jumping into the outdoor pool in the dead of winter, or sign-up for a family soak at the Warm Springs Pool that is known for it’s presential visitors and healing properties
   • Equestrian Center- sign-up for a trail ride, a carriage ride, or the S’mores Express to experience the amazing equestrian center and the hotel neigh-bors
   • Kid’s Club- drop your kids off and let them have fun while you escape for a few hours
   • Activities- from crafts to trivia, there is something fun for every kid happening on an hourly basis
   • Arcade- A fan-favorite that includes bowling, air hockey, and the best vintage games that your family will spend hours playing
   • Movie Theater- Sneak over to the small theater for your favorite movie on the big screen
   • Shopping- with in-house shops from a lovely toy store, to an outdoor adventure shop, and even a candy shop- the kids always love exploring the different shops and getting a sweet treat after dinner.
2. The Restaurants: With several great restaurants on property, there are so many different options for dining. From a brunch buffet in the formal Audobon Dining room, to a BBQ quick-stop, a cute café to grab a quick bite and coffee, to a lovely steakhouse that offers great kids’ dinner buffets- there is so much to choose from. We love mixing it up every day we are there to get the full experience.
3. The Spa- If you’re looking for a little ‘me-time’ the spa offers a variety of services and a private pool/spa area for those using the spa. Get the experience of your own private getaway, and enjoy some relaxation; even if it’s just for an hour or two before your S’mores Express family activity!
4. The Kid’s Club- My kids love the Homestead’s Kids Club! They get to meet friends, play games, and do many different activities while my husband and I have a chance to utilize the spa, sign-up for a wine tasting, get a few ski runs in, or a round of golf in-just the two of us!
5. You Don’t Have to Leave Property- I have found that even though I am down for creating an intense travel itinerary and figuring out all the logistics from time to time- it’s nice to go on a vacation, park your car, and not have to worry about logistics or directions until it’s time to leave. From a shuttle service that takes you everywhere from the ski resort to the Warm Springs Pool, to a great valet service- I love that when we arrive at the Homestead, we don’t have to worry about a thing (other than when our dinner reservation is) until we leave.
