Our Pregnancy Announcement & Gender Reveal
Hello, 27 weeks pregnant! We are almost to the third trimester! In my first pregnancy, I found out I was pregnant much later than I did with this one. Yet, somehow this pregnancy is flying by. Of course, ask me if it is flying by at 37 weeks!
Today I thought I would rewind a bit and share all about how we announced our pregnancy and what we did for a gender reveal.
Pregnancy Announcement:
We announced that we were pregnant on Thanksgiving! I wanted to do something fall-themed, so I thought that sharing on pumpkins would be the perfect way to do so! We actually set these pumpkins out on our dining room table after we took pictures with my sister (one of the few sworn to secrecy before we formally announced) and had a few close friends and family members over.
When they sat down to dinner, they saw what the pumpkins said! It was a fun way to announce to our closest friends and family.

Lilly is definitely Alex and my daughter…the offspring of two fall-obsessed parents. She was SO EXCITED to hold her big sister pumpkin. It brought tears to my eyes. She’s going to be the best big sister ever!
Gender Reveal Ideas:
When I had my anatomy ultrasound scan with Lilly, my dad was actually with me instead of Alex. The ultrasound tech told my dad the gender, but I didn’t want to find out until I was with Alex. I happened to be coaching a swim meet at my sister’s college the same day, so my sister of course had to call my dad from my hotel room to ask the gender. Her face gave it away . Given we grew up as sisters and are super close, I knew it was a girl immediately.
This time I was determined to keep it a surprise until the whole family could find out the baby’s gender. I was scared that confetti canons would be “too much” for Lilly, so I enlisted the help of my sister. For Lilly, she filled a big box with balloons and taped it shut.
Alex and I had confetti canons that we shot off as Lilly opened the box! It was honestly one of the best surprises of my life, and we are so excited to be welcoming baby boy into the family!
